CORAL REEF

Like flowers let loose, bright fish with patterns
Roam and wander through the coral reef;
Red, yellow, black, through living rock curtains,
Stone florists’ displays; a place for each brief
Or centuries’-old lifeform, tethered or free;
Slow-motion universe, in warm, shallow sea.
